Boromir (Steward)

Boromir (Steward)

Boromir is in J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional universe of Middle-earth the eleventh Ruling Steward of Gondor.

Boromir was born in T.A 2410 and succeeded his father Denethor I at his death in 2477 Third Age. He was already known as a great captain whom even the Witch King feared. In 2475 Ithilien had been lost to the fierce Uruk-hai, but Boromir was able to clear the enemy from Osgiliath and Ithilien and drive the Uruks back to the Morgul Vale. However he was unable to completely regain Ithilien owing to continuing Uruk raids

In the war he was hit by a Morgul arrow, which shortened his life and left him shrunken and in great pain. He died 12 years after his father and was followed by his son Cirion at his death in 2489.

Boromir son of Denethor II was named after him.
