The Sega Mega-CD is an add-on for the Sega Mega Drive. In early 1991, Sega announced the Mega-CD for release in Japan in late 1991 and in North America (as the Sega CD) in 1992.[cite book |last=Kent |first=Steven L. |authorlink=Steven L. Of these games, several were released on the Sega Mega Drive as well as the Sega Mega-CD, marked by a * in the title for the game. There are also five additional games (marked with a † in the title for the game) that were also released in formats that used a combination of the Sega Mega-CD and the Sega 32X. All dates given are for the earliest release of the games, which have been sold in several regions around the world, including Japan (JP), North America (NA), and Europe (EU).
