- Henry William Scriven
Born in
England in 1951, Henry William Scriven was educated atRepton School inDerbyshire and later at theUniversity of Sheffield . Scriven then studied at St. John's College inNottingham . He was ordained in 1975. He served for four years in theDiocese of London followed by two years in the Diocese of Northern Argentina through the South American Missionary Society (SAMS).With the onset of the
Falklands War , Scriven and his family moved toLittle Rock, Arkansas where Scriven served Christ Episcopal Church, Little Rock as AssistantRector for Education from 1982 to1983 .From 1984 to
1990 , Scrivens continued with SAMS inSpain in theSpanish Reformed Episcopal Church He then served for five years as Chaplain for the British Embassy Church in Madrid under the Diocese ofGibraltar in Europe of theChurch of England . In 1995 He was consecrated asbishop by ArchbishopGeorge Carey as BishopSuffragan in Europe. He also servedEdmond Browning as Assistant Bishop to theConvocation of American Churches in Europe in May of the same year.In 2002, Scriven was called to the Diocese of Pittsburgh to serve as Assistant Bishop. Bishop Scriven is married to Catherine and has a daughter, Anna, and a son, Joel.
