Jay Gainer

Johnathan Keith Gainer (born October 8, 1966, in Panama City, Florida) was a Major League Baseball first baseman. He is an alumnus of the University of South Alabama. He is currently the hitting coach for the Visalia Oaks.

Drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 24th round of the 1990 MLB amateur draft, Gainer would make his Major League Baseball debut with the Colorado Rockies on May 14, 1993, and appear in his final game on October 2, 1993.

Gainer was a member of the inaugural Colorado Rockies team that began play in Major League Baseball in by|1993.

One of only 22 players in Major League history to homer on the first pitch of their first Major League at bat.
