The 1st Conference title series was marred by walkout by Anejo Rhum in the sixth game, giving Shell their first-ever PBA title. In the Third Conference, Alaska blew a 0-2 series lead losing to Purefoods in five games.

Trivia

* Arnie Tuadles is the only player in the PBA to win two championships with two different teams in the same season. He was part of the Shell Rimula-X team that won the Open Conference championship. After a contract dispute, he left Shell and was quickly signed up by Presto Tivoli during the All-Filipino Conference and was instrumental in helping them get to the finals and win the championship.
