Richardson A. Scurry

Richardson A. Scurry

Richardson A. Scurry (November 11 1811, Gallatin, Tennessee–April 9 1862, Hempstead, Texas) was a Texas politician and a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives. He was also a soldier in the war for Texas independence, fighting at the battle of San Jacinto, and later a lawyer, a judge and an Associate Justice of the Texas Supreme Court.

He died of complications from having his foot amputated, which was made necessary after he shot himself in the foot during a hunting trip in August 1854.
