Colorado Avalanche after he was drafted in the 2nd round, 34th overall in the2005 NHL Entry Draft .On
October 13 ,2007 while playing the University of MichiganWolverine s in just the second game of his junior season with the Gophers, Stoa suffered a season-ending knee injury. Later that Fall following a concussion to teammateMike Howe , also an alternate captain, Stoa transferred his title toBlake Wheeler for him to bear for the remainder of the season.As of May 13, 2008, Stoa was voted captain of the Minnesota Gophers men's ice hockey team by his teammates for the 2008-09 after missing the most of the 2007-08 season with a knee injury.
