Huéscar (Latin: "Osca") is a municipality of Granada province, Spain. When the Iberian Peninsula was conquered by Rome, Osca was town of the Turdetani, and incorporated into the Roman province of Hispania Baetica. (Ptol. ii. 4. § 12; Plin. ii. 1. s. 3.) The purportedly ancient coins of this town are not genuine. (Florez, "Med.",; Sestini, p. 78; Mionnet, i. p. 43, Suppl. i. p. 40; Sestini, p. 78)

Between 1809 and 1981, Huéscar had been in war with Denmark, as a result of the Napoleonic wars over Spain, and the fact that the official declaration of war was forgotten until it was discovered in 1981.
