- Bobby Perry
Bobby Perry is an American basketball player who played both forward positions for the
University of Kentucky from 2003 to 2007.College career
Bobby Perry was part of Kentucky's 2003 recruiting class. He came in as an unheralded prospect, and did not play much in his first two seasons. Toward the end of his sophomore year he became one of the first players off the bench, playing at either forward position and replacing
Kelenna Azubuike orChuck Hayes . After the departure of both of those players, Perry eventually assumed the starting power forward role and became a fairly reliable player in the process.Perry came on strong in the 2006 NCAA Tournament. In the first round, he led eighth-seeded Kentucky to a victory over ninth-seeded UAB with a game- and career-high 25 points. The game was especially significant because it was the first time the two teams had played since UAB managed a one point upset over heavily favored Kentucky in the second round of the 2004 NCAA Tournament. Perry was an unused substitute in that game. Perry then played an important role in a tight game against top-seeded UConn whose players made key plays at the end of the game to come away with a four-point victory. Perry finished the tournament with 14 rebounds and 45 points on 61.9% shooting and a perfect 14-14 from the free throw line.
Perry was a key player in the 2006-2007 season. He was the only starter from his recruiting class and was the senior leader for the team. He had a season high of 25 points, and contributed heavily to Kentucky's run in the
2007 NCAA Tournament . He ended his college career, leading Kentucky in their loss to Kansas, in the second round with 21 points. Perry's cousin Dwight Perry also plays for Kentucky.Bobby now is a Development Associate at Bellerive Development Company in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
