Thomas Coleman Foley (born 1952) has been the United States Ambassador to Ireland since October, 2006. He is President Bush’s third U.S. ambassador to Ireland since 2001. He was nominated for the position in June, 2006.

He went to Phillips Andover Academy and Harvard College, where he earned a degree in economics. He also earned a master's degree from Harvard Business School, where he was a member of the Harvard Business School Rugby Club. Mr. Foley was formerly president of the NTC Group and chairman of TB Wood’s Corporation and Stevens Aviation, Inc.

From August, 2003 through March, 2004, Mr. Foley served in Iraq as the Director of Private Sector Development for the Coalition Provisional Authority. Mr. Foley’s responsibilities included overseeing most of Iraq’s 192 state-owned enterprises, stimulating private sector growth, developing foreign trade and investment, and overseeing three state Ministries. Mr. Foley received the Department of Defense Distinguished Public Service Award in June, 2004 for his service in Iraq.
