Severn Area Rescue Association
- Severn Area Rescue Association
The Severn Area Rescue Association aka SARA or Severn Rescue provides inshore Rescue Boat services for the River Severn Estuary and upper reaches of the River Severn. It has boat stations at Beachley, Sharpness, and Wyre Forest. The Association was founded in 1973 and is now the second largest independent lifeboat organisation in the UK, after the RNLI. There have been many disasters on the Severn requiring the assistance of SARA.
The Association is a registered charity and all the membership are volunteers.
