Yakov Kreizberg

Yakov Kreizberg ( _ru. Яков Крейцберг; born 1959, Saint Petersburg, Russia) is a Russian-born American conductor. Kreizberg studied with Ilya Musin, and later at Tanglewood and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute.

Kreizberg was General Music Director of the Komische Oper Berlin from 1994 to 2001. He has guest-conducted opera at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Glyndebourne, and English National Opera (all inside of the UK). He has also conducted productions at Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Bregenz Festival and Canadian Opera. In parallel with his Berlin post, he was principal conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra from 1995 to 2000.

Since 2003, Kreizberg is Chief Conductor and Artistic Advisor of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra. He is also Principal Guest Conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. He records regularly for Pentatone Classics, including recording projects with the Netherlands Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras, Vienna Symphony and the Russian National Orchestra. His first disc with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra (Bruckner Symphony No.7) was nominated in two categories at this year’s Grammy Awards. He has made several concerto recordings with Julia Fischer.

In October 2007, Kreizberg was named the next principal conductor of the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, effective September 2009, for an initial contract of 5 years. Kreizberg's brother is the conductor Semyon Bychkov. He is married to the conductor Amy Andersson.
