Laserdisc video game released for the arcades byData East . ASega Mega CD port was released in vgy|1992 under title of "Road Avenger" in North America and Europe, and "Road Blaster FX" in Japan. The game was also ported to thePlayStation andSega Saturn in Japan in vgy|1996 in a bundle with "Thunder Storm", its predecessor.The game is an "
interactive movie " where the player drives a modifiedinterceptor while ramming into enemy vehicles. Like most interactive movie games, the game is comprised animatedfull motion video scenes in which the player must respond to on-screen commands displayed on-screen.The game's animation was produced by
Toei Animation , while the game itself was designed by Yoshihisa Kishimoto, who would go on to create the "Kunio-kun" and "Double Dragon " games.Plot
The protagonist is a newlywed cop, who was involved in a car accident caused by a gang that leaves his wife dead, however, he manages to survive the crash. Deciding to seek revenge on this gang, the player will play though a series of high-speed chases in which you squeeze between trucks, fend off reckless S.C.U.M. members, perform dangerous stunts, commit acts of
vehicular homicide on the S.C.U.M. gang, and narrowly avoid certain death seemingly hundreds of times before facing off against the gang's female boss.
