Paizo Publishing is an American publishing company located in Bellevue, Washington that specializes in game aids and adventures for "the world's most popular fantasy role-playing game" ("Dungeons & Dragons"). They also run an online retail store selling role-playing games, gaming aids, board games, comic books, toys, clothing and other products. Paizo also has an active forum community.

Paizo formerly published "Dragon" and "Dungeon" magazines, [cite news |author=Julie Bartel |title=The Good, The Bad, and the Edgy |work=School Library Journal |url=http://www.schoollibraryjournal.com/article/CA621754.html?q=The+Good%2C+The+Bad%2C+and+the+Edgy Features |page=35 |date=2005-07-01] both published under license from Wizards of the Coast. In early 2007, it was announced that the license had lapsed and would not be renewed, effective September 2007. [cite web

Other Paizo product lines include the "GameMastery" line of standalone adventures and accessories, the "Titanic Games" line of board games including "Kill Doctor Lucky", [cite news |author=Edwin Wong |title=Oddball diversions |work=New Straits Times Local |page=16 |date=2008-01-19] and the "Planet Stories" brand publishing classic fantasy, science fiction, and science fantasy novels. The company began producing a bimonthly magazine called "Undefeated" (now defunct) in 2003, [cite web| author= Magazine Publishers of America| title = New & Noted 2003 Magazines: January-December 2003| work = MPA Website:The Definitive Source of the Magazine Industry| publisher = Magazine Publishers of America| date = 2003 | url = http://www.magazine.org/Finance_and_Operations/Finance_Operations_Trends_and_Magazine_Handbook/1269.cfm| accessdate =2008-02-05] and in 2004 resurrected the venerable science fiction title "Amazing Stories". Paizo announced on 18 March 2008 that they would be launching the "Pathfinder Roleplaying Game". [cite web |url=http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG |title=Paizo Publishing Announces the Pathfinder RPG |accessdate=2008-07-10] Through the new product line, Paizo would modify, update, maintain, and publish the 3.5 SRD (under Wizards of the Coast's OGL). The "Pathfinder Roleplaying Game" would also support Paizo's Pathfinder campaign setting. One of the stated primary goals of the "Pathfinder Roleplaying Game" is backwards compatibility with all 3.5 materials.
