The reason why it is called a hand throw is because it should feel effortless using the forward momentum of the attacker rather than brute force and of course there is no hip contact. The throw is normally used by gripping the opponents jacket however can be done by holding one of the assailant's arms at the elbow and the other at the shoulder.
