Philip Morant

Philip Morant

Philip Morant was an English clergyman, author and historian who lived in the 18th century.

He attended Abingdon School but came from Colchester, Essex, UK. There is now a school named after him (The Philip Morant School and College), in Prettygate, an area near the town Colchester, his place of birth.Fact|date=June 2008

Morant wrote "The History and Antiquities of Colchester ", published in 1748 and "The History and Antiquities of the County of Essex" published in two volumes between 1763 and 1768.
