"Spilargis" is a spider genus of the Salticidae family (jumping spiders). Its sole species, "S. ignicolor", occurs in New Guinea. A subspecies, "S. ignicolor bimaculata", is found on the Moluccas.

Name

The genus name is probably derived from the Ancient Greek roots "spil-" "spot" and "arg-" "shining". The species name is Latin for "the color of fire". "bimaculata" is Latin for "with two spots".
