Bernhard Rosenkränzer (or Bero to the
Internet community) is the founder and main developer ofArk Linux , and a contributor to various otherfree software projects such asKDE andOpenOffice.org . ≈His primary interest and work focus is in getting
free software andOpen Source (he sees the Open Source and Free Software movement as one, and makes a point of using both terms) ready for the desktop.Even before his Studies of Computer Science at RWTH Aachen University, which he started in 1998, he optimized RedHat Linux by creating own Linux Distributions known as "BeroLinux". Diring his studies he started working for Mandrake Linux (later known as Mandriva). He later accepted an offer to work for Red Hat Linux as KDE packet developer. However, he finally quit the job upon differences with RedHat about the future of KDE in RedHat.
He also invented an improved system for satellite TV distribution to schools in
