- Australian Bookseller & Publisher
Bookseller and Publisher magazine (formerly "Australian Bookseller & Publisher") is the journal of the
Australian book industry and is one of Australia's oldest survivingmagazines . It was founded in 1921 by Daniel Wrixon Thorpe as the "Australian Stationery and Fancy Goods Journal", at a time when there were few Australianretailers solely focused on the sale of books. The magazine has been contiunouslypublished ever since, changing its name to "Ideas" in the 1940s and "Australian Bookseller & Publisher" in 1971, when the D W Thorpe company was finally taken over by Thorpe's daughter,Joyce Nicholson . The word 'Australian' was dropped from the magazine's title at the start of 2006, partly in acknowledgment of Australia's growing role as a publishing andbookselling hub for the entireAsia-Pacific region.External links
