Talbehat

Talbehat

Talbehat is a town and a nagar panchayat in Lalitpur district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Talbehat had a population of 12,664. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Talbehat has an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 58%. In Talbehat, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age. The town is located next to a major highway 26 and main line of Delhi & Bombay train route.

Would like to add here that Talbehat has very few trains stopping so ideally best would be to either board or alight any long distance train from Lalitpur or Jhansi and then travel the distance from these stations via road on National Hwy 26 (which connects jhansi to Lakhandon via Lalitpur)

There are many Important things to do around here The famous Matatila dam(is now on UP tourism radar for developing a beach head and a restaurant in the middle of the dam). There is small army cantonement here as well and the amry people are ver friendly and helpful. Their regular drills of manoeuvering tanks and other armaments makes one wonder how on earth they have been placed here. Rumours suggest that the famed Agni ICBMs are placed here owing to the near central location or more importantly coordinates that are required for its range.

The area has very outbackish landscape. Stony ridges descending towards the betwa river valley. The struggle for the regions poor is really heart breaking, Scanty rainfall, apathy from the MP and UP govt has lef the people in lurch. Bundelkhand region as its popularly called encompasses Gwalior, Jabalpur, Tikamgarh, Khajuraho (all in MP) and Lalitpur, Talbehat, Banda Jhansi (UP) want a new state so that development can happen. being on the border of two states UP and MP this region never gets any funds for development

New Rail line the demand for which started in 1980s is finally seeing the light of the day it will connect lalitpur with thermal power stations of Singrauli coal mines, hopefully generating new jobs.
