Suratgarh is a city and a municipality in Ganganagar district in the Indian state of Rajasthan.

Geography

Suratgarh is located at coord|29.32|N|73.9|E| [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/IN/24/Suratgarh.html Falling Rain Genomics, Inc - Suratgarh] ] . It has an average elevation of 168 metres (551 feet.

Demographics

As of the 2001 India census [GR|India] , Suratgarh had a population of 58,076. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Suratgarh has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 70%, and female literacy is 54%. In Suratgarh, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Industries

It has a thermal power plant of 1250 MW and a PLF of 93%, which has won an award for one of the best operated plants in India.Fact|date=November 2007
