History
Phalodi is an old town where the King was elected.phalodi real name is phalvardhika but called phalodi.
Phalodi town is situated between latitude 27°-06 to 27°-09 north and 72°-20 to 72°-23east on jodhpur-jaisalmer railway.It is second largest town in the district and is a sub-division head quarter. The town is situated at distance of 140 Km. from distriet H.Q. Jodhpur. the pressent population of the town as per consus 2001 is 44756. A number of various Government & semi government offices are situated in the town. The town is surrounded by Bikaner, Nagaur & Jaisalmer Districts. It is well connected by road and railway. The railway station of the town was established in 1914. National Highway No.15 (Pathankot-Kandla) and state Highway No. 2 ( Jodhpur- Jaosalmer) Passes from the town.
Well known for migrated birds ”Kurja” (Kranes), The village Khichan is hardly four Km. away from Phalodi. Town is a prime place for commercial and industrial activies of surrounding hinter areas.
Phalodi was established in mid of 15th century. In 1488, Fort was constructed by Hamir Singh, the grand son of Rao suja. He did a number of construction work in his period in 1230, fame Kalyan Raoji’s temple was constructed. The temple of goddess Latiyal Devi and Santinath are one of the oldest temple of the town. The Parsnath Jain temple established in 1847 by the Oswal Jain community has been made only in stone and does not have any girders or RCC construction. It is totally made in old Belgium glass. This Jain temple has marvels in architecture which one needs to see to believe.
In 1547 Rao Maldeo was the ruler of phalodi, but in 1578 it was handed over toRai Singh, the king of Bikaner by the emperor Akbar in 1615, it was again under control of RaoSoor Singh of Jodhpur State and then after remains a part of Jodhpur State. Before the town phalodi, there was a town in existence called as Vijay Nagar Patan. The stone documention can be seen in the Kalyanji-Ka- Mandir. A big contribution in cash to make this fort was given by Brahman Sidhu kalla her widow daughter Phala. She toid Raja Hamir to keep this fort on her name phala and dhi means daughter. So, after this , fort now the town is known as PHALODI. How to Reach •By Rail
It is on the Broad-gauge has its own Railwas station and it lies on Delhi- Jaisalmer train route. Theree three trains from Jodhpur and three from Jaisalmer. It also has a direct train from Delhi.

metre s (994 feet).Phalodi is between four districts in Rajasthan i.e. Jodhpur(135Km towards south), Bikaner(156 Km. towards north), Nagaur (145 Km in east) and Jaisalmer (165 Km in west). The Pakistan Border is around 100 kilometers from Phalodi. Some of temples are famous here. Latiyal Temple is very famous in Phalodi. The people come from across the country for getting blesses from Maa Latiyal. "Indira Gandhi Nahar Pariyojna", also known as "Rajasthan Cannal Project" have its big township here named R.C.P. colony. National Highway No.15 also kiss phalodi while going towards east( towards Bikaner).

Phalodi has an average literacy rate of 58%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 69%, and female literacy is 46%. In Phalodi, 17% of the population is under 6 years of age.mostly Brahmin live in Phalodi.About 35 KM away from phalodi a huge temple of folk god PABUJI MAHARAJ. Dr J.N. Bohra is first person who became scientist from Phalodi. Couple of more people like Dr. Pratap Singh Charan, Manish Vyas, Bhupendra Purohit are shining the name of their town in USA. Mr. Sanjay Purohit (Taru)S/o Shri Om Prakash Taru became Chartered Accountant in first attempt by the grace of Maa Latiyal.
