New Talent Showcase ", a series intended to provide work for up-and-coming artist who did not have a regular assignment.In 1984, Lightle followed
Keith Giffen as the regular artist onDC Comics 's "Legion of Super-Heroes ". Although Lightle's tenure as interior artist (inked byLarry Mahlstedt ) was brief, Lightle continued as the regular cover artist until 1988. During Lightle's tenure, he co-created two Legionnaires, Tellus andQuislet , whose unusual appearances contrasted with the humanoid appearances of the other Legionnaires.Lightle was the first penciler during the 1987 revival of "
Doom Patrol ", but he left after the first five issue story arc.Much of Lightle's work has been as a cover artist. Lightle typically both pencils and inks his covers. In 1989 and 1990, Lightle was the regular cover artist for "
