Fathers for Virginia

Fathers For Virginia is a non-profit advocacy and support group based in Virginia, United States. Itcampaigns for the reform of family law and the creation of a family law system, legislative system, and public awareness which promotes the child's right to the love and care of both parents after breakup of a family or establishment of paternity. It is an affiliate of American Coalition for Fathers and Children.

It was founded in 1991 by a Robert Seidenberg and a group of fathers who felt that the Virginia's Family Courts did not consider them competent to be active father and parents, or have custody of their children, when their marriages ended in divorce.

Activism

Fathers For Virginia has testified before the Virginia Legislature's committee on families and children. Representative Randy Ball introduced the Uniform Parental Rights Enforcement and Protection Act at the behest of Fathers For Virginia. They worked with the National Congress of Families and Children for the passage of the 1998 Visitation Reform Act.

In 2006, the group mounted a successful campaign to prevent the increase of Child Support Jessie Preston Silvernail in the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

In 1998 and 1999, the group mounted a successful campaign to prevent the appointment of Jessie Preston Silvernail to the Fifth District Court of Appeals.
