Kiratpur is a city and a municipal board in Bijnor district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Kiratpur had a population of 55,310. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Kiratpur has an average literacy rate of 45%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 49%, and female literacy is 39%. In Kiratpur, 19% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Educational Institutions

There are few secondary and senior secondary schools in the town. Hindu Inter college, Mahatma Gandhi Muslim Inter Collage, Lala Dhaniram Saraswati Vidya Mandir Inter College, two Saraswati Shishu Mandir schools, Kanya Ucchatar Madhyamic Vidyalaya (AKA Kanya Pathshala), Madni Inter College and St.Peter's School are some of well known schools in the area. Most of the schools provide education in Hindi medium.

There are ample schools for education up to intermediate, but there is only one degree college, Rama College of Education, which provides graduate degree in Commerce and Education. So there is lack of degree colleges in the town. Students have to move to Bijnor or Najibabad for getting higher education. BY Dr. Vipul Rastogi

St.Peter's School. Established in 1980 by the "Education Society of the Catholic Diocese of Bijnor", it caters to the quality education for the children of Kiratpur. This school worked as subordinate institution of St.Mary's School, Bijnor. It functioned as a primary school up to Class IV until 2007. The Education Society then upgraded the school to a high school.
