Khurai is a city and a municipality in Sagar district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

Geography

Khurai is located at coord|24.05|N|78.32|E| [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/IN/35/Khurai.html Falling Rain Genomics, Inc - Khurai] ] . It has an average elevation of 436 metres (1430 feet).

Demographics

As of 2008 India census [GR|India] , Khurai had a population of 48,887. Males constitute 57% of the population and females 43%. Khurai has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 83%, and female literacy is 73%. In Khurai, 21% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Education

Three popular schools are "Holy Family Convent School","Gurukul School" and "G.S.M.V.M Khuria".The town has a "Polytechnic College" and a "Science & Arts College".Khurai also has a Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalya and there is famous Jain temple popularly known as Lal Mandir.

Tourism

Popular places to visit are "khan gol banglow" "Talliya Mandir" "Purana Quilla" "Talaab" "Gulshan-e-madeena Mosque" "Mahakali Mandir" "Pandit Ka Kuan" "Shehnai Garden" "Dohela" and "Jain Temple in Gurukul".
