The school opened with 1,500 students, although it was designed for up to 2,700. As is typical in the district, the first year began without a senior class.

Architecture

This high school was built at a cost of $54 million, with construction begun March 2005 and completed August 2005. At completion it formed the largest school in the district, with a campus area of 40 acres and four buildings with a total of convert|330000|sqft|m2|-3|abbr=on. of floor space. Arbor View High School is an architectural prototype, featuring a mall-style design with four two-story corner "houses" and a shared central esplanade. The layout is intended to help foster the feeling of a "small school environment", in the words of interim co-superintendent Walt Rulffes, even though it is by far the largest school in the history of the Clark County district. The structure is more energy-efficient than existing schools within the district.

The design for this school received a 2005 "AIA Nevada Excellence in Design Award" merit award for a completed structure. ports Facilities

The school is one of three in Las Vegas that has a synthetic turf football field, it is a grassy style turf that is the exact type that is used in the NFL.
