Vladimir Pavlovich Belussov ( _ru. Владимир Павлович Белоусов) (born
July 14 1946 inVsevolozhsk Great Russian Encyclopedia (2006),Moscow : Bol'shaya Rossiyskaya Enciklopediya Publisher, vol. 3, p. 263] ) is a former Sovietski jumper who competed during the late 1960s and early 1970s, training at the Armed Forces sports society inLeningrad Oblast . He was the first Soviet ski jumper to win the gold medal at the Olympics and is the only person from theSoviet Union orRussia to win a gold Medal in ski jumping in both the Winter Olympics and the Holmenkollen.His best known successes were at the
1968 Winter Olympics inGrenoble , where he won a gold medal for theSoviet Union in the individual large hill event, and at theHolmenkollen ski festival , where he won the ski jumping competition twice (1968, 1970). He became theHonoured Master of Sports of the USSR in 1968 and won the USSR Championship in 1969. In 1978 he graduated from the Military Institute of Physical Culture and worked as a trainer.References
