Kenneth John Woolmer, Baron Woolmer of Leeds (born
25 April 1940 ) is a Labourpolitician in theUnited Kingdom .He was elected at the 1979 general election as
Member of Parliament (MP) for Batley and Morley inWest Yorkshire . For the 1983 general election, the constituency was abolished by boundary changes and Woolmer stood for the new Batley and Spen seat, but lost to the ConservativeElizabeth Peacock . At the 1987 general election, he stood again in Batley and Spen but the Conservatives increased their majority.He was created a
Life Peer as Baron Woolmer of Leeds, of Leeds in the County of West Yorkshire in thePeerage of the United Kingdom on3 August 1999 .References
