16 June 1957 inOud-Beijerland ,Zuid-Holland ) is a former football defender from theNetherlands , who earned 56 caps for theNetherlands national football team in which he never scored. He was a famous left-back. He was a member of the Dutch team that won the European title at the1988 European Football Championship inWest Germany .Nickname d "De Spijker" ("The Nail") for his toughness, he started his professional career withSparta Rotterdam (1978-83), then moved toFC Groningen (1983-86),Anderlecht (1986-91), andPSV Eindhoven (1991-94). Van Tiggelen ended his career at Dordrecht'90 (1994-95). In July 2005 Van Tiggelen was the interim-coach and lead his former club Sparta back to the DutchEredivisie . Since then he's working as a coach for the juniors of Sparta.After winning the 1988 European Championships, van Tiggelen teamed up with fellow full-back Berry van Aerle to release a duet that enjoyed chart success and which became a cult hit on the terraces within the Netherlands. That was, however, the duo's only foray into the music business.
