Barbara K. MacDonald (born Barbara Kooyman,
4 October 1958 [http://www.locos.no/oktober.html] , Wausau,Wisconsin ) is an Americanfolk singer-songwriter . She was half of the duo known asTimbuk3 , along with her thenhusband ,Pat MacDonald . They are best known for the single, "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades " (1986), which reached #19 in theBillboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S., and #21 in theUK Singles Chart .She now goes by the name Barbara K. McKenna, and crafted a number of new songs by 1998, which she performed for the first time with
Wally Ingram , who had worked as Timbuk 3'sdrummer over the previous decade and a half. By 1998, Ingram was touring withDavid Lindley , who heard her songs and asked her to open for the remainder of his tour.MacDonald branched off as a solo artist early in 2000 with the
