suspension bridge that spans theSaint Lawrence River betweenMontmorency Falls , inQuebec City , andÎle d'Orléans (Orléans Island) in the Canadian province ofQuebec . This suspensionbridge was constructed in1934 to answer an electoral promise made by PremierLouis-Alexandre Taschereau to Montmorency County. Before, the island was accessible byferry .It is the furthest downstream of the Saint Lawrence River's fixed crossings, although it does not cross the entire river.
