1982 FIFA World Cup . He then played for Bologna, Udinese, Sampdoria and Perugia.Later, he started a managing career at international level, coaching Ghana for two years (1998-2000), and then being assistant of
Cesare Maldini in Paraguay's appearance at the2002 FIFA World Cup . He is currently an analyst for Italian stationRAI .In October 2008, he was sentenced to eight months' imprisonment for attempting to swindle his ex-club,
Sampdoria , by making an offer to purchase the club in 2001, claiming that he had financial backing from an Arab prince, a claim which proved to be false.
