Julie Pietri

Julie Pietri is a french pop singer born on May 1st, 1957 in Algiers. Her biggest hit was the song "Eve lève-toi" in 1986 (the european edit was entitled "Listen to your heart").

Biography

1975 : a very first single is recorded : "On s'est laissé faire".

1977-1979 : after studies of speech therapist, she makes her beginnings of artist with the "Bande à Basile".

1979-1981 : Julie records in 1979 the song "Magdalena". This slow achieves a great success which enables the singer to record her first album in 1980 with the type-setter Jean Schultheis and the lyric writer Jean-Marie Moreau.

1982 : Julie meets again success with the hit "Je veux croire", a post-disco up tempo song with gospel strains. Then, she decides to write her first text and adapts in french "I Go To Sleep", song of the group The Kinks, covered at that time by The Pretenders. The song is entitled "Et c'est comme si" and becomes one of her best sales.

1983-1985 : Julie meets the french singer Herbert Léonard and they record "Amoureux fous". Their romantic duet will receive a very good welcome from the public. Other successful hits will follow and in particular the song "A force de toi" which is a cover of "I Should Have Known Better" performed by Jim Diamond.

1986 : Julie comes back on stage using her complete name, Julie Pietri, and gets a significant success with "Ève lève-toi". The song reaches the 1st place of french chart and is widely played on radio during several months. At that time, Julie Pietri is very promoted through the media. The success of the song exceeds the borders of France and encourages Julie to record an english version : "Listen to your heart".

1987-1988 : "Eve lève-toi" is the 1st extract of her new album "Le premier jour" which displays her Eastern roots. In december 1987, it is the dedication at the "Olympia" concert hall in Paris. She sings "Nouvelle vie", 3rd extract of the album composed by Vincent-Marie Bouvot. In 1988, she shoots in Sri Lanka the clip of her song "Immortelle".

1989-1991 : in springtime of 1989, Julie comes back with a new look (blazing red hair) and tells us "La légende des madones" ("The legend of madonnas") through a new album. The 1st extract is entitled "Salammbô".

1992 : she gives birth in March to the little Manon and decides to put between brackets her professional career in order to devote fully to her daughter.

1995-1996 : the album "Féminin singulière" gives again a new glare to Julie's best songs, revisited for the occasion, and also includes new titles signed by François Bernheim for the musics and Julie Pietri for the lyrics.

1997-1999 : she sings "Canto di Sorenza" with the Corsican polyphonic choruses, generic song of the telefilm of France 2 "Dans un grand vent de fleurs" (repeated in 1999 on TF1).

2000 : Julie records a dance edit of "Eve lève-toi" exclusively for European compilation "Euro Pride 2000".

2001-2002 : she appears on the scenes of province at the time of estival tours and takes part in many successful television broadcasts. Julie Pietri is consecrated "egery of the Eighties" at the time of a survey by NRJ/CHERIE FM in 2002.

2003-2005 : the tv broadcast "Retour gagnant" in May 2003 gives a new dimension to her career thanks to her successful cover of "Vivre pour le meilleur" (performed by the french singer Johnny Hallyday). Then, Julie release her album-concept to us "Lumières", gathering successes of yesterday, covers such as "Lettre à France" (by Michel Polnareff), and new songs as well. The album will be followed by the single "Si on parlait de ma vie" in 2004.

2006 : a DVD collector of the "Olympia" of 1987 is released with bonus such as four clips and an interview-report on the artist. In March, Julie gives three concerts in the "Duc des Lombards", a famous jazz club in Paris. The music style of her repertory is at that time turned to a jazzy mood.

2007 : the DVD collector is completed by a CD + DVD bonus edit. In May and June, Julie Pietri records the songs of her new album called "Autour de minuit". So as to realize this album, she chose a new artistic team and worked on a concept blending jazzy tones to great French songs. The first single is a cover of a song of Etienne Daho intitled "Des Heures hindoues".

At the beginning of November, Julie Pietri presented her jazzy song recital in Paris at the "Scène Bastille" and then at the "Bataclan". At the end of these concerts, a collector edit of her new album (limited to 1000 copies) with a photo booklet was put for sale, before a general public spreading planned on May 2008.
