Euphemia de Ross (died 1386) was the second wife and first
Queen consort ofRobert II of Scotland .She was a daughter of
Aodh, Earl of Ross andMatilda Bruce , sister ofRobert I of Scotland . She first marriedJohn Randolph, 3rd Earl of Moray but the marriage was childless. Her husband died in 1346 and she remained awidow for nine years.On
May 2 ,1355 , Euphemia married Robert Stewart, sole son ofWalter Stewart, 6th High Steward of Scotland andMarjorie Bruce . Marjorie was a daughter ofRobert I of Scotland and his first wifeIsabella of Mar . Robert was however a son ofMarjorie, Countess of Carrick and her consortRobert Bruce, Earl of Carrick .A daughter of the Countess and Earl of Carrick was married to her paternal grandfather
Uilleam II, Earl of Ross ; making Uilleam II their son-in-law and by some definition Aodh, their grandson of sorts. Though not actually related by blood, their marriage could still be consideredincest and a papal dispensation byPope Innocent VI was required for it to be recognized by theRoman Catholic Church .Euphemia and Robert were parents to five children:
*David Stewart, 1st Earl of Caithness (d. bef. 1389)
*Walter Stewart, 1st Earl of Atholl (d. 1437)
*Margaret Stewart
*Elizabeth Stewart, married 1380David Lindsay, 1st Earl of Crawford
*Egidia Stewart, married 1387 SirWilliam Douglas of Nithsdale Robert II succeeded his childless maternal uncle
David II of Scotland in 1371. Euphemia became his Queen consort and served in this position for about fifteen years.
