academic journal founded in 1939 bySigmund Freud andHanns Sachs . It seeks to explore the role ofpsychoanalysis in contemporary cultural, literary, andsocial theory , while also considering issues related toanthropology ,philosophy ,politics ,history ,art history ,musicology ,education , andgender studies . As such, it is an interdisciplinary effort, relying on the expertise of specialists in a variety of fields. The current editor of the journal is Dr.Peter L. Rudnytsky of theUniversity of Florida . Past editors include Sachs, Dr.Harry Slochower , and Dr.George B. Wilbur .The journal is published quarterly in March, June, September, and December with each issue devoted to a specific theme. Its circulation is 545 and the average length of an issue is 120 pages.
