Jeffrey Alexander "Jeff" Frankel (born
November 5 ,1952 inSan Francisco, California ) is the James W. Harpel Professor of Capital Formation and Growth at Harvard University'sKennedy School of Government . A member of the Council of Economic Advisors under PresidentBill Clinton , Frankel is a noted international macroeconomist. Frankel has contributed to economic theory including formalizing a gravity model for international trade flows (withDavid Romer ).Frankel directs the Program in International Finance and Macroeconomics at the
National Bureau of Economic Research and is also on the Business Cycle Dating Committee, which officially declared the 2001 recession.See also
