Brett Seymour (born 27 September, 1984 in Mackay, Queensland) is an Australian professional rugby league player for the Cronulla Sharks in the Australian National Rugby League competition. His position of choice is in the halves.

Biography

choolboys

On contract with the Brisbane Broncos from a young age, it was no surprise Seymour was a standout school boy performer, having lead his side (St Patrick's Mackay) to victory in the Confraternity Cup. Other schoolboy standouts from the same age group included current Warriors half Grant Rovelli, former Manly centre Ashley Alberts.

2002

Seymour made his NRL debut in 2002 for the Brisbane Broncos against St. George Illawarra Dragons, 26 May, 2002 - round 11.

2003–2006

In 2006, accusations were made by a female against Brett Seymour over an alleged incident at Brisbane's Regatta Hotel. No criminal charges were laid after police investigation found insufficient evidence. After a mixture of promising football and injury woes as the Brisbane Broncos' new halfback, Seymour departed the club in 2007 to join the Cronulla Sharks.

2007

Seymour subsequently joined the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks on a 2-year contract, effective 2007. Seymour has had a good year with the Sharks and has had many stand out games including a game against the Eels when he kicked a 35-metre field goal in the fifth minute of golden point extra time to steer his side to a thrilling 25-24 victory.

2008

Seymour had been linked with a move to London-based European Super League franchise Harlequins Rugby League, however he has signed a two-year deal to stay at the Cronulla Sharks.cite web|url=http://blogs.abc.net.au/grandstand/2008/05/seymour-staying.html|title=Seymour staying put, Kimmorley to see out season|publisher=ABC Grandstand|date=2008-05-12|accessdate=2008-05-26] Unfortunetly Seymour's season ended in tragedy as he went on to injure his knee in week two of the finals. Seymour injured his knee in a team game of soccer where he collided with fellow shark, Danny Nutley. Rookie Blake Green stood in for the injured Seymour for the rest of the season.
