The city is primarily known for being an important part of the western railways. This is a major reason why a lot of Anglo Indians in Rajasthan belong to this place. Some anglo Indian families staying here were the Corneile's, Patman's, Gillespie's, Francis's etc. Most of the community has now moved out and a very small percent is left here. What remain are the terms and traditions left by them. Even today , Housie , an anglo Indian recreational game, is organised . Christian's are still referred to,by the locals,as 'baby's and baba's'.
Ganagpur city is also referred as GGC. There are some very beautiful places in GGC like gud gali, chaupad, bus stand, agrasain colony, patvo ka rasta(girls school), khanna ki dukaan, Khandelwal Photo State etc. In olden days GGC was the cultural capital of Jaipur state and now it is also known as "jugad of the east". Here jugad means to exploit some invention on commercial basis.
