Westfield Hawthorn, formerly Hawthorn Center, is a shopping mall in Vernon Hills, Illinois. Its four anchor stores are Carson Pirie Scott, JCPenney, Macy's and Sears. The Marshall Field's store was renamed Macy's on September 9, 2006.

The mall sits on land formerly occupied by the Hawthorn Mellody Dairy, which was owned by the Cuneo family. Its original anchors included Lord & Taylor, which closed in 1990 and sold its store to Carson Pirie Scott.

The Westfield Group acquired the shopping center in 2002, and renamed it "Westfield Shoppingtown Hawthorn", dropping the "Shoppingtown" name in June 2005.

The sales tax rate for Vernon Hills, Illinois (Lake County) is 7.0%.

Future plans

As of 2006, Westfield is seeking approval to add-on and remodel the current mall. The plans call for the current Carson Pirie Scott to be demolished and a bigger store will be built, a 14 screen movie theatre to be built, a revamped futuristic food court, and finally parking garages would be added on top of and beneath some of the existing mall. The $110 million dollar project will make the convert|1200000|sqft|m2|sing=on mall expand to a convert|1600000|sqft|m2.
