The Order for Service to the Homeland in the Armed Forces (Russian: "Орден "За службу Родине в Вооружённых Силах") also known as Order of Service to Motherland was a USSR
military order created on28 October ,1974 , making it the first military order created after the end ofWorld War II .According to its statute, the order was awarded for "exemplary service in the armed forces, both during a war and during peacetime". A recipient was first awarded a 3rd class order, then, if further deeds were made, the second and the first classes. Like the civilian
order of Labor Glory upon which it is modelled, it gave a certain number of material benefits to their owners, such aspension raises or free travel in city transports.As of 1989, the number of decorations awarded was:
* 13 for 1st class (making it the smallest number of awards ever in the Soviet Union)
* 589 for 2nd class
* 69576 for 3rd classMedals and ribbons
