Alphons Czibulka

Alphons Czibulka, or Czibulka Alfonz (May 14, 1842, Szepesváralja/Spišské Podhradie - October 27, 1894, Vienna) was a Hungarian composer, pianist, and conductor.

His "Wintermärchen" is the drooping, sentimental violin piece that has been frequently used to indicate mock tragedy in film and cartoon soundtracks. [cite book|author=Daniel Goldmark|title=Tunes for 'Toons|publisher=University of California Press|year=2005|isbn=0-520-23617-3 p.109]
