rhinoceros from the lateEocene (Chadronian ) some 35 milion years ago ofNorth America (Prothero, 2005).It is the oldest rhino of which a well-preserved
skeleton has been found. "Trigonias" was about 2.5 m (8 ft 2 in) long and, despite lacking horns, looked a lot like modern rhinos. Its front legs had five toes (as contrasted with three in modern rhinos), the fifth of which was vestigal.Notes
