Port Germein is a sea-side town in South Australia, on the east side of Spencer Gulf. At the 2006 census, Port Germein had a population of 249.][Census 2006 AUS|id=UCL421600 |name=Port Germein (L) (Urban Centre/Locality)|accessdate=2007-11-18|quick=on] ]Port Germein was once famous for having the longest jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. It was built in the 1880s to export wheat and is 1646 metres long ["The Port Germein Jetty Tramway" Eardley, Gifford Australian Railway Historical Society Bulletin, February, 1974 pp44-47] .
