Kauai ,Hawaii . It grows in moist forests from 120 and 400 meters (390 to 1,300 feet), where it grows on exposed cliffs and ridges. It occurs naturally in only three locations onKauai :Nounou Mountain , the cliffs of the Nā Pali Coast, andHa'upu Ridge nearNawilili Bay .It is a small
tree growing to 8 m (25 foot) tall, with a straight trunk, spreading branches, and smooth, gray bark. Its leaves are pinnate, 30 cm (12 inch) long, with oval leaflets, each of which is over 7 cm (3 inches) long. These trees drop most of their leaves during their summer blooming season. Its small, pale yellowflower s hang in long, rope-like strands.References
