Cleveland, Ohio . Married toRichard Donner , she entered the entertainment industry as one of the first women members inHollywood Electronic Camera Union (Local IA 659). She worked as a camera operator on a number of TV projects before graduating toassociate producer of "ABC's World Wide of Entertainment " in 1973, a catch-all concept for various late-night formats that attempted to compete withJohnny Carson 's "Tonight Show ". Shuler Donner's next move would be toMotown Productions , where she rose to the ranks to make her TV producing debut in 1979 with the acclaimed "Amateur Night at the Dixie Bar and Grill ", aTV-movie written and directed byJoel Schumacher in the style ofRobert Altman 's "Nashville".Production career
