2006 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected by theNew York Rangers with the 21st pick in the first round. Bobby, who grew up a Ranger fan, has said he tries to model his game after a former Ranger greatBrian Leetch , and even wears 22 to pay respect to Brian Leetch (who wore 2).Bobby had a breakthrough year during the 2006–07 season, leading OHL defensemen in goals scored (23) and was among the top defensemen in points. The Owen Sound Attack were eliminated in 4 games in the playoffs, but Bobby played well, with 3 goals and 3 assists in the 4 games. With his team eliminated from the playoffs, Sanguinetti was called up to the Rangers' AHL affiliate team the
Hartford Wolf Pack . In 7 regular season games for the team he put up 5 assists and had 1 point in the playoffs. Bobby was signed to his first professional contract in April 2007 by the New York Rangers.Bobby's Pewee team, The New Jersey Rockets, won the 2001 Tier 1 USA National Championship.
