Jos Verhulst

Jos Verhulst

Jos Verhulst (born 29 May 1949, Londerzeel, Belgium) is a Belgian chemist (PhD in theoretical chemistry earned at the University of Leuven).

He was a teacher at the Steiner School in Antwerp, an associate researcher at the Louis Bolk Institute in Driebergen, a writer and a direct democracy activist. He is married and has four children.

His work was published in the areas of evolutionary theory and comparative anatomy, such as "Psychological Reports","Acta Biotheoretica", the "British Medical Journal", and the "Annals of Human Biology".

As a "political philosopher", he writes on direct democracy, alternative money systems, freedom of speech, secession from the European Union, homeschooling and other subjects.

His "spiritual-scientific" views on"quantum mechanics and astrology" have been criticised as leaving science for anthroposophy, astrology or esotericism Fact|date=February 2007.

He is also engaged in networks promoting direct democracy, like the Belgian-Dutch (Flemish) WIT ("Werkgroep Implementatie Tijdsgeest"), Democratie.Nu, Referendum Platform, and on the European Democracy International group.
