Mark Lubosch

Mark Lubosch was a city councillor in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He was first elected in 1995^[1] in the North Kildonan ward defeating former councillor Don Mitchelson. He was defeated in 2006 by real-estate appraiser Jeff Browaty.^[1]

Lubosch has two arts degrees from the University of Manitoba and a Masters of Business Administration from Athabasca University.^[1]

While in office Lubosch spearheaded Winnipeg's municipal smoking ban^[2] - a policy expanded provincewide by the provincial NDP administration.

In September 2006, the Winnipeg Free Press reported that Lubosch was considering sitting out of the 2006 municipal election to run for the New Democratic Party in the next provincial election.^{[citation needed]} Lubosch later entered the race for councillor in the North Kildonan ward.

On October 25, 2006, Lubosch was defeated by Jeff Browaty. Lubosch received 4,563 votes (35%) to Browaty's 6,820 (52%). Candidate James Viehweg placed third with 1,712 votes (13%).^[1] Traffic was a major issue in the campaign.^[3]
