- Sheik Sadeek
Sheik Sadeek is a writer who was born in
Guyana . His stories provide a colorful and lyrical evocation of the rural, Guyanese landscape.Some of his better known works are "Windswept", "Bundarie Boy", "Namaste", "The Pork-knockers", and "Song Of The Sugarcanes" (Sadeek, 1975).
His poetry anthologies are "Dreams And Reflections", and "Reflections And Dreams".
He also wrote the script for the movie "
Anmol Bandan ".Sheik Sadeek has won four Gold medals for writing - 2 Jagan Gold Medals (Dr. Cheddi Jagan), 1 Joing Jagan/Burnham Gold Medal, and 1 Burnham Gold Medal. He has also been honoured by the Guyanese Government with a Medal Of Service for Long and Dedicated service of an exceptionally high standard in the field of Creative Writing. In
2004 he won aWordsworth McAndrew Award for writing, presented at the Guyana Folk Festival 2004 inBrooklyn , New York, USA.Sheik Sadeek, now deceased, has six children. They all live in The
USA : three in South Florida, one in Central Florida, and two in the Minneapolis-St Paul area inMinnesota .
